About the Department

The New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration's (WCA) mission is to assure the quick and efficient delivery of benefits to injured workers at a reasonable cost to employers. The WCA works to maintain a balance between the interests of workers and employers, and maintains jurisdiction over most New Mexico businesses.

Getting back to work as quickly as possible is important. Once the HCP indicates it is all right to do so, a worker can return to work (RTW). At that point, it is important to contact the employer, even if work is to be done on a limited basis. Keep the employer and claims adjuster informed about medical progress.

WCA safety consultants provide a range of free safety services for the workplace, such as consultations and inspections. The WCA also publishes two booklets devoted to safety.
