ADVISORY: 52nd Annual Heritage Preservation Awards ceremony celebrates the best in Historic Preservation on May 17

Hi Everyone,

The New Mexico Historic Preservation Division’s (NMHPD) annual celebration of the state’s best historic preservation projects and the people behind them is returning to Santa Fe later this month. The 52nd annual Heritage Preservation Awards will be held at Meem Hall on Museum Hill on Friday, May 17.

What: The 52nd annual Heritage Preservation Awards. Since 1973, the Cultural Properties Review Committee has presented the Heritage Preservation Awards as part of Heritage Preservation Month . Additional information about the ceremony is available HERE . This event is free to attend.

Who: This year’s preservation awards will be presented to the individuals and organizations below. More information about each recipient is available HERE . Lifetime Achievement Award - Larry Baker, Executive Director, Salmon Ruins Museum

Tribal Heritage Preservation Award - Santo Domingo Pueblo

Heritage Organization Award - International Women’s Forum – New Mexico

Heritage Organization Award - Cornerstones Community Partnerships and Plaza Del Cerro, Chimayo, New Mexico

Heritage Organization Award - The Wheels Museum, Albuquerque Railyards, Albuquerque

Individual Achievement Award - Candie and Lee Borduin, Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project

Individual Achievement Award - The Singleton Family and the San Cristobal Ranch

Where: Meem Hall, Laboratory of Anthropology, Museum Hill, 710 Camino Lejo. The ceremony will be followed by a reception held at the Museum of International Folk Art, just across the plaza from Meem Hall.

When: 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17.

Why: Each May, the Heritage Preservation Awards offer an opportunity to commemorate and celebrate the people and projects dedicated to preserving New Mexico’s unique cultural and architectural history.
