ADVISORY: Chill out as sensory-friendly Relaxed Nights return to NM Museum of Natural History & Science
Hi Everyone,
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) is excited to announce that Relaxed Nights – the museum’s popular series of sensory-friendly evenings – will be returning to the museum in 2024! The first Relaxed Night of the year is slated for March 28.
What: Relaxed Nights . Relaxed Nights are evenings for anyone who might get overwhelmed by crowds, sounds, or flashing lights. Or, for visitors who simply enjoy smaller crowds. During the evenings, the Bisti Beast in the museum atrium will be “resting” with no movement or roaring, and the Planetarium will have the lights on low and the volume turned down.
These sensory-friendly evenings are for guests of all ages and will feature special, sensory friendly offerings in the museum on select evenings. To make this event as accessible as possible, admission will be free but cash donations are appreciated.
Where: New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, at 1801 Mountain Road NW.
When: Thursday, March 28. Other events will be announced later in the year, check nmnaturalhistory.org/calendar for specifics.
Why: New Mexico’s natural and scientific wonders are for everyone to enjoy, and Relaxed Nights offer a chance to learn and explore in a sensory-friendly environment.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in learning more!
Thanks, Stephen
