Hello everyone,
The New Mexico State Library celebrates National Library Week, April 6–12, 2025, and the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning.
What: The New Mexico State Library (NMSL) supports 101 public library systems, 130 local public libraries, and 23 public tribal libraries throughout New Mexico. NMSL invites the public to join in celebrating public libraries throughout the state during National Library Week by visiting their local libraries, using online resources, or attending a program. In fiscal year 2024, New Mexico libraries saw more than 4.7 million library visits, circulated 12 million items, and offered 28,882 programs to more than a half million people. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities, and NMSL is committed to supporting local public libraries.

Why: The New Mexico State Library, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, is committed to providing leadership that promotes effective library services and access to information to all citizens of New Mexico. National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April and was first celebrated in 1958.
