Hello everyone,
Explore the largely unexamined artifact collection from Sandal Canyon Cave in the Rhodes Canyon area within White Sands Missile Range. OAS archaeologist Steven Needle will highlight new research on artifacts from a cave in the Andreas Mountains of central New Mexico. WHAT: "Sandal Canyon Cave (LA 8677): Typological Classification of a Jornada Mogollon Cave Assemblage" WHO: Steven Needle is an Archaeological Crew Chief for the Office of Archaeological Studies. He earned his bachelor's degree in anthropology from New Mexico State University in 2012 after beginning his studies in linguistics at the State University of New York at Oswego. He later completed a master's degree in anthropology and a graduate certificate in cultural resource management at NMSU in 2015. His research has been presented at professional conferences and published in The Artifact . WHEN: Wednesday, July 8, at noon. WHERE: Center for New Mexico Archaeology at 7 Old Cochiti Road WHY: The Brown Bag Lecture Series offers the public an opportunity to learn about current archaeological research and discoveries from experts working throughout New Mexico.
