ADVISORY: Final Friday Angela Ellsworth lecture at New Mexico Museum of Art

Good afternoon,

WHAT: Angela Ellsworth will lecture at the New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary on March 29, 2024. Ellsworth will discuss her career and her work in the inaugural exhibition at the Vladem Contemporary, Shadow and Light, as part of the museum’s final Friday programming. WHO: Born in Palo Alto, California, Ellsworth grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and earned an MFA from Rutgers University in painting and performance and a BA from Hampshire College in photography and painting. She is a Professor in the School of Art at Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts-School of Art at Arizona State University. Ellsworth works in diverse media and has explored a variety of subjects such as illness, physical fitness, endurance, religious tradition, and social ritual. The Plural Wife Project, which is featured in Shadow and Light, explores issues of gender, sexuality, and cultural histories in early Mormon polygamy. She also co-founded the Museum of Walking (MoW) in Phoenix, a project that prompts a conversation on land, action, and site. WHERE: New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary, 404 Montezuma Ave, Santa Fe, NM. WHEN: Friday, March 29, 2024, 5:30 p.m. WHY: Gain insight into Ellsworth’s diverse artistic practices. Ellsworth’s lecture is the third in the Maria and Ed Gale and Gale Family Foundation lecture series at the Vladem Contemporary.
