Hello everyone,
Join Fort Selden Historic Site in partnership with Las Cruces Public Libraries for a new series highlighting children’s books of the Southwest for young readers in kindergarten through fifth grade.
What: A ranger from Fort Selden will be at the Thomas Branigan library branch to read the children’s book Stellaluna , by Janell Cannon, which tells the story of a young fruit bat who comes to learn that despite our many differences we can all be friends. After the story participants can draw their favorite scene from the book, comparing and contrasting bats and birds. This program is free and open to the public and takes place in the craft room of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library.
Who: Fort Selden Historic Site and Las Cruces Libraries
When: Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 4 – 5 p.m.
Where: Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., Las Cruces, NM, 88001
Why: T his partnership program brings rangers from Taylor-Mesilla and Fort Selden Historic Sites to the Las Cruces Libraries to share books and activities with children that are connected to the history and landscape of their sites.
