ADVISORY: Latinx Games Festival brings video game arcade and industry opportunities to the National Hispanic Cultural Center
Hi Everyone,
As a reminder, the first Latinx Games Festival held outside the state of California is coming to the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in Albuquerque from Sept. 20-22!
What: The 6th Annual Latinx Games Festival. This three-day festival kicks off on Sept. 20 with an opening ceremony in the NHCC Bank of America Theatre from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., featuring industry speakers, presentations, and more. B-roll and interview opportunities will be available, and members of the media are encouraged to attend.
Then, head back to the Center on Sept. 21 for a full day of festivities! The NHCC Grand Hall will be converted into a vintage video game arcade featuring classic favorites and hard-to-find gems. As part of the festival, the Center will also host an e-sports tournament with games like Street Fighter 6 , Tekken 8 , and Mortal Kombat 1 , and a pop-up exhibition about the history of Latinos in the video game industry. There will be panel discussions and opportunities to network and break into the rapidly growing industry throughout the weekend. More information on the festival is available HERE .
Who: Founded in Los Angeles in 2019, the Latinx Games Festival represents the definitive video game industry event for Latinx game development. The organization aims to connect, learn from and advocate for Latinx game developers, providing a platform for global opportunities within the gaming industry.
Where: The National Hispanic Cultural Center, located at 1701 4th St SW. When: Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22. A full schedule of speakers and events is available HERE .
Why: Video games are a key part of New Mexico’s booming film and television industry, and the Latinx Games Festival offers an opportunity to learn more from the Hispanic creators who have helped it grow!
Please let me know if you’re interested in attending or setting up an interview with NHCC leadership.
Thanks, Stephen
