Join Jack McElroy, author, newspaper editor, and retired journalist, for an ONLINE lecture about newspaperman Carl Magee, as part of the Friends of History monthly lecture series.
What: This month’s Friends of History First Wednesday Lecture Series features a talk by retired journalist Jack McElroy about the life of newspaperman Carl Magee. Magee arrived in Albuquerque in 1919 and bought The Albuquerque Journal , then launched The Albuquerque Tribune . He was soon at war with New Mexico’s powerful political machine. Magee later exposed the Teapot Dome bribery scandal that sent New Mexico’s first U.S. senator, Albert Fall, to prison. Learn more about this fascinating historical figure at this lecture.
