Let’s talk about it! El Palacio goes to Garcia Street to discuss New Mexico art and literature.

WHAT : Join El Palacio magazine editor, Emily Withnall, for a Q & A session following a reading panel with two contributors to the summer edition and one featured curator.

WHO: Samantha Dunn reads her essay, “So Far from Paris or Santa Fe,” remembering her anxiety-packed prom experience in 1980s Las Vegas, New Mexico. Jason Asenap (Comanche/Muscogee) will read from his profile of Dylan McLaughlin (Diné), whose video and performance pieces engage deeply with environmental concerns. Christian Waguespack, head of curatorial affairs and curator of 20th century art at the New Mexico Museum of Art, will offer insights into the exhibition “Out West: Gay and Lesbian Artists in the Southwest, 1900-1969,“ which is featured in the summer edition by writer Robin Babb.
