ADVISORY: National Hispanic Cultural Center adds weekend guided fresco tours on Oct. 5 and 12
Hi Everyone,
As a special treat for visitors and locals alike, the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is excited to offer a pair of weekend guided tours of the Center’s majestic Mundos de Mestizaje fresco during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta!
What: The NHCC Torreón houses the massive Mundos de Mestizaje fresco. Painted by artist Frederico Vigil using the traditional, time-honored fresco technique, the monumental work spans 4,000 square feet and depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history and culture while highlighting diverse cultural connections among peoples from around the world.
In addition to the regularly scheduled guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays, NHCC is offering guided tours on the first two Saturdays of October. Head to the Center on Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 as visitors explore this must-see work of art with a trained docent.
Admission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase HERE . Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center, depending on availability. The capacity on each tour is limited. Please arrive at the Welcome Center 10 minutes before the scheduled tour.
Where: NHCC New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center, located at 1701 4th Street SW.
When: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 12.
Why: During one of Albuquerque’s busiest weeks of year, these tours offer a chance for visitors and residents to experience one of the city’s iconic works of art!
Thanks, Stephen
