ADVISORY: National Hispanic Cultural Center invites you to author Estella Gonz�lez�s free two-day event starting Nov. 7

Hi Everyone,

The National Hispanic Cultural Center’s (NHCC) Escribir | Escuchar Latine Author Series continues in November with a free two-day event featuring author Estella González.

What: A reading and workshop event celebrating Estella González’s newest novel Huizache Women . González’s sweeping novel tells the story of three generations of women grappling with the complexities of love, as the story traverses Mexico, Texas and California through evocative storytelling.

First, head to the Center on Nov. 7 for a reading and book-signing event. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the author, engage in enriching discussion, and hear excerpts from her compelling new work. Then, on Nov. 9 González will lead a writing workshop, offering a unique opportunity to explore your own narrative voice and craft.

Who: In addition to Huizache Women , Estella González wrote the acclaimed short story collection Chola Salvation (2021 Arte Público Press). Her work has appeared in Kweli Journal, The Acentos Review, and Huizache . Her fiction and poetry have been anthologized in Daughters of Latin America: An International Anthology of Writing by Latine Women , by Harper Collins and Nasty Women Poets: An Unapologetic Anthology of Subversive Verse , by Lost Horse Press.

Where: Both events will be held in Salón Ortega at NHCC, located at 1701 4th Street SW.

When: The reading kicks off with a reception and book-signing event at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. The workshop runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Why: It’s an opportunity to meet the author, engage in enriching discussion, and hear excerpts from her compelling new work!
