ADVISORY: Plains of Smoke curatorial talk with Katie Doyle

Hello,

WHAT: Join Assistant Curator, Katie Doyle for an exploration of the exhibition The Plain of Smokes . Based on the book of the same name by poet Harvey Mudd and artist Ken Price this talk will trace the development of the book from Mudd and Price meeting in Taos during the early 70’s to the completion of this true artist-poet collaboration.

WHO: Katie C. Doyle is the Assistant Curator at the New Mexico Museum of Art, where she has mounted exhibitions on Rick Dillingham (2023) and Ken Price (2024) in addition to surveys of late 20th century New Mexico art. Katie also manages a project for emerging artists in the museum’s contemporary wing: the Window Box project at the Vladem Contemporary.

WHEN: January 15, 2025, 11 a.m. - noon

WHERE: New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 West Plaza Avenue, Santa Fe, NM

WHY: The Plain of Smokes is an exhibition showcasing 20 prints from the acclaimed illustrated poetry book of the same name. The exhibition is on view until June 29, 2025.
