Hi Everyone,
In celebration of National Poetry Month, head to the newly remodeled New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science on April 26 for a free, jam-packed poetry celebration!
What: 2026 Ekphrastic Poetry Awards and El Palacio Spring Issue Reading. This two-part event will celebrate the winners of the 3rd Annual New Mexico Ekphrastic Poetry Contest , which celebrates the best poetry inspired by artwork from around the state. These winners will be joined by contest judges and poets, including New Mexico Arts Executive Director Michelle LaFlamme-Childs, Museum of New Mexico Press Erin Adair-Hodges, and current New Mexico poet laureate Manuel González, along with local favorites Hakim Bellamy, Lauren Camp, and Kathryne Lim.
This is a free event, co-hosted by El Palacio magazine and the Museum of New Mexico Press.
Who: Details about contest winners and special guests are available at nmculture.org/poetry .
Where: The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, located at 1801 Mountain Rd. NW in Albuquerque.
When: Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m.
Why: During National Poetry Month, this event is a chance to celebrate the amateur and professional poets who call New Mexico home!
