ADVISORY: Spring Break Camps return to NM Museum of Natural History & Science in March and April
Hi Everyone,
Back by popular demand, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) will be hosting camps over Spring Break for the first time in years!
What: NMMNHS Spring Break Camps. The museum will be hosting two pairs of camps for different age groups during the weeks of March 25 and April 1.
During the first week, join us as we dig into all things paleontology! Five- to seven-year-olds can enjoy Dinosaur Explorers, an age-appropriate program that offers kids a chance to dig into the prehistoric world of the past and learn all about creatures that lived eons ago and the environments they lived in. Meanwhile, older kids – between the ages of eight and 10 – can enroll in Dinosaur Detectives, where they don their paleontologist’s hat and travel into the past to understand what makes a dino a dino and explore the environments they lived in! Both groups will have a chance to explore Museum collections, make fossils, and learn all about life in ancient New Mexico.
The following week, head back to the museum as we blast off into the cosmos! The older age group can enjoy Awesome Astronomy, exploring the huge variety of celestial objects, the winter solstice, space flight, and so much more. Meanwhile, younger kids will participate in Space Explorers, investigating the solar system and Milky Way Galaxy with exciting activities and planetarium shows. Space Explorers will also get the chance to speak face to face with an expert who is currently working on the Mars rovers!
Each week of camps costs $300, with a 10% discount for NMMNHS members. Learn more and register HERE . Five-year-olds must have experience in full-day classes before attending. All camps are capped at 15 participants per session. The museum reserves the right to cancel camps that do not reach a minimum of six participants. A full refund will be given if a camp is canceled for this reason.
Where: The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, located at 1801 Mountain Rd. NW.
When: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday during the weeks of March 25 and April 1. Parents may drop off beginning at 8:45 a.m.
Why: NMMNHS Spring Break camps offer kids the opportunity to keep learning during the break in school while embracing their curiosity in a fun and engaging museum setting.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested in learning more!
