Advisory: Stretch your Thanksgiving weekend in the country - Dawn til Dusk at Los Luceros Historic Site on Sunday Dec. 1.

Hello everyone,

Why: It’s the best time of year to see wintering birds like sandhill cranes, red-tailed hawks, crows, and other species in their natural habitat from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Los Luceros is one of the numerous cultural gems of the state and one of the most scenic and historically rich properties.

What: The centuries old Los Luceros Historic Site in northern New Mexico is offering extended hours from sunrise to sunset on the first Sunday of each month to explore the grounds. Enjoy the quiet surroundings as you walk the trails along the 19th century capilla (chapel), Victorian cottage, guesthouse, farmland, and the Rio Grande. The site will offer a paper crane puppet-making activity for all ages to enjoy. Join Ranger Kara at 10 a.m. for a story time in the community room. She will read "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buehner and share with kids what those silly snowy folk are getting up to while we’re all asleep. All ages are welcome. Children must have a guardian present.

Where: Los Luceros Historic Site, 253 County Road 41, Alcalde, NM Entrance is free for New Mexico residents with ID. Regular admission for non-residents is $7/adult and free to children 16 and younger.

Let me know if you’d like more information or media images. Thanks, Christina
