Convergence x Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest kicks off with special opening reception on June 7 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center

The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) invites visitors to celebrate the opening of its groundbreaking new exhibition, Convergence x Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest , with a free opening reception on Friday, June 7!

What: Convergence x Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest highlights the beauty and ingenuity of the street art scenes across the American Southwest and in Northern Mexico. The exhibition, generously supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, explores the webs that connect graffiti art, murals, and practices of placemaking in predominantly Hispanic and Latinx neighborhoods through a collection of more than 90 individual works of art. During the free opening reception, visitors will have a chance to make art and enjoy other activities inspired by the exhibition. Food and a cash bar will be available. Visit nhccnm.org/events to learn more and register.

Where: The NHCC Visual Art Museum, located at 1701 4th Street SW.

When: The opening reception runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7. Convergence x Crossroads is on view through Feb. 23, 2025.

Why: This exhibition not only celebrates an artform that has long been underappreciated, but it also highlights the diversity of artists within the space, featuring a wide range of artwork from more than 30 artists who identify as Chicano/a/x, Latino/a/x, Indigenous, and Native American.
