David White announced as Southwest regional representative
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has announced David White, a native New Mexican with over 25 years of banking and agricultural experience, as the new regional representative for Region 5 covering seven counties in Southwest New Mexico.
In this role, White will be based in Las Cruces, guiding businesses towards reaching their economic development goals and connecting them to EDD resources.
“As the first point of contact for businesses and communities, regional representatives are literally the front line of access to EDD resources,” said Jennifer Myers , team leader for the Community, Business and Rural Development (CBRD) program. “David brings a wealth of experience and insight to this essential role, which will be key in building strong relationships and driving meaningful collaboration across the Southwest region.”
White was born and raised in Silver City. He earned his BA in Communications from Hardin-Simmons University. He has over 25 years of banking and lending experience and has hands-on agricultural experience having managed a family ranching operation in Luna County.
“I am very excited about the possibilities being a part of the EDD team opens up; a genuine chance to help to grow and improve not only New Mexico’s economy, but its communities,” White said. “Being born and raised here in the Southwest, I invested a lot of myself in the state over the years and now I feel like I am in a position to really see that investment payoff.”
In addition to Las Cruces, CBRD has regional representatives based in Mora, Portales, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Gallup, and Roswell that cover six regions across the state. They serve as vital liaisons, helping to connect local needs with state-level support and solutions.
White has four sons—two graduates from New Mexico State University, one from New Mexico Tech, and his youngest son is a junior at Mesilla Valley Christian School, where his wife teaches. An outdoor enthusiast, White enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking and wildlife photography.
