Economic Development Department publishes updated resource handbook, including Spanish
SANTA FE, N.M. – New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) Secretary-Designate Rob Black announces the updated publication of the department’s resource-rich Toolbox in both English and Spanish. The Toolbox guides businesses and communities to financial and technical resources as New Mexico strives to diversify the economy.
EDD published the Toolbox in 2019 as EDD’s regional representatives realized the need for a single, tangible, point of reference for business owners and communities, seeking grants, loans, and assistance programs. During the COVID pandemic, EDD’s Toolbox became a top requested publication by lawmakers who provided them to constituents.
“Through the EDD Toolbox, small business owners throughout New Mexico have easy access to information about the state’s many assistance programs,” Black said. “And business owners don’t need to come to Santa Fe or Albuquerque to access these programs because we have a network of regional experts around the state who can help.”
The Toolbox is separated into two main sections, EDD agency-specific and other statewide resources. Within each, it is further broken down by business and community resources. The booklet is designed to be thin and easy to transport and is available for free at the EDD office or by contacting your EDD regional representative . A PDF version of the Toolbox can also be found on EDD’s publications page . To request a copy, please call (505) 827-0300 or email info@edd.nm.gov .
The Spanish language version of the Toolbox is also available in print and online. The translation project was spearheaded by EDD’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Office. This version was updated as well, just in time to be made available at the JEDI-sponsored Hispanic Business Summit on Oct. 14.
Full descriptions of all EDD programs are listed on the agency's website and further resources can also be found on the EDD Resource Map . Business owners with specific questions about assistance should contact the Community, Business and Rural Development (CBRD) representative that serves their county.
