ECECD Hosts Early Childhood Day at the Roundhouse

"Leading the Nation, Building Our Future"

SANTA FE – On Thursday, January 18 the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) will host the third annual Early Childhood Day at the Roundhouse. The event will highlight how New Mexico has become a national leader in early childhood education and care, building a bright future for generations of New Mexicans. Early childhood stakeholders will table in the Roundhouse Rotunda beginning at 8 a.m., hosting activities for visiting early childhood classrooms. The main program featuring Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and ECECD Cabinet Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky will begin at noon.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DAY SCHEDULE

8 a.m. – Event opens to public (Roundhouse Rotunda)

ECECD and external partners host tables with information on early childhood programs and services, children’s activities, snacks, and prizes for families and young children

Model classrooms set up for play and exploration courtesy of Lakeshore and Kaplan

Storytime at the Lakeshore Model Classroom (Roundhouse Rotunda - West Wing):

9:30 a.m. - Storytime with Ms. Fran McAdams from Presbyterian Medical Services Head Start in Santa Fe County

10:30 a.m. - Storytime with Alax! (from the Early Show with Alax ) joined by Ms. Jenn Anderson from Santa Fe Public Schools

11:30 a.m. - Storytime with ECECD Cabinet Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky

11 a.m. – Special appearance on Senate Floor by Alax, ECECD Intergalactic Ambassador of Care

Noon to 1 p.m. – Main Program (Roundhouse Rotunda):
