Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Berm Project Phase 3

COLUMBUS, NM — State and local leaders will gather on Monday, June 1, to announce the completion of the first of three phases (phase 3) of the Southern New Mexico Berm Project, a critical flood control and border infrastructure initiative designed to strengthen public safety and support long-term economic development along the U.S.–Mexico border.

BACKGROUND: Led by the New Mexico Border Authority in partnership with Luna County, the Berm Project is a three-phase infrastructure initiative focused on flood mitigation, border resilience, and regional economic growth. The full project represents a $30 million investment and is expected to support development opportunities across approximately 1,800 acres in the region.

Note: The ceremony will be at Ruth Coleman Memorial Columbus Community Center 520 N Boundary St, Columbus, NM 88029, and shuttles will take guests to the berm for a ribbon-cutting photo op. Media are encouraged to follow the shuttles.
