MEDIA ADVISORY: Sims Marina Boat Ramp at Navajo Lake State Park is closed

MEDIA ADVISORY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

September 18, 2025

Sims Marina Boat Ramp at Navajo Lake State Park is closed

SANTA FE – The Sims Marina Boat Ramp at Navajo Lake State Park is closed until further notice.

A recent intense storm damaged the boat ramp, creating a potential safety hazard for park visitors.

Staff from the State Parks Division and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation are working with professional engineers to assess the damage and develop a plan to return the ramp to safe operation for launching and loading of vessels.

The Pine Marina Boat Ramp remains open despite having sustained minor damage during the same storm.

Parks staff have blocked access to severely damaged areas. Visitors are asked to use caution around eroded gullies, displaced rocks, or equipment that was moved by flooding. While boating, please be aware that shallow areas particularly around the shoreline can pose safety risks.
