Secretary Schardin Clarke elected president of interstate tax group
SANTA FE — New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke has been elected president of the Western States Association of Tax Administrators (WSATA).
Sec. Schardin Clarke was elected president of the group during its annual meeting in Rancho Mirage, Calif. in October. WSATA is one of the four regional organizations that make up the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA), a group that promotes intergovernmental and interstate coordination, provides information and resources to tax administrators and ensures that state tax interests are represented at the federal level.
The 2025 WSATA annual meeting will take place in Albuquerque. Fourteen Western states, including Alaska and Hawaii, are members of the group.
Schardin Clarke is also a member of the FTA Board of Directors and chair of the Multistate Tax Commission. She was appointed as secretary of Taxation and Revenue by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2019.
