NMCD Launches Veterans Program in Collaboration with Veterans Affairs
Program offered at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility
Grants – The New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) is proud to announce the establishment of a new “Veterans Program” at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility (WNMCF) in Grants.
The participants will benefit from a wide range of resources, including advice and assistance on how to access financial aid, address medical and emotional needs, and secure housing after incarceration. The aim is to provide valuable support and assistance to incarcerated veterans, as well as help them successfully reintegrate into society.
"We are eager to launch this Veterans Program," said Cabinet Secretary Alisha Tafoya Lucero "By providing incarcerated veterans with the necessary tools and support they need, we aim to create a positive impact not only on their lives, but on New Mexico as a whole.”
This program is being done in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ "Veterans Justice Outreach Program."
