New Mexican filmmaker returns for post-production work on new thriller, “ShutEye”
Albuquerque, NM — The high-stakes disaster-thriller feature film, "ShutEye," from New Mexican filmmaker Arnaldo Mirabal , has begun post-production in Albuquerque.
While principal filming was completed in Idaho, the project's post-production phase is being brought to New Mexico for completion. The project will leverage the New Mexico Film Production Tax Credit for post-production work and create jobs for six local film professionals.
"New Mexico's commitment to the film industry extends far beyond principal photography," said Steve Graham , director of the New Mexico Film Office . "It’s great to see local filmmakers take advantage of our competitive film tax credit includes post-production work, which is a growing part of our creative economy."
The feature was penned by Carlo Carere and Erin Carere and directed by Mirabal , who is from Albuquerque. Mirabal’s previous film, "VR," was an Official Selection at the Love and Hope International Film Festival in Barcelona.
"We are thrilled to be conducting post-production for ‘ShutEye’ in New Mexico, which has a history and culture of cinematic excellence," said Carlo and Erin Carere.
"ShutEye" tells the story of a pharmaceutical researcher and her estranged family as they race against time amid a unique and terrifying apocalyptic scenario.
This non-union production, with a focus on high-quality, authentic storytelling, will perform critical post-production processes in New Mexico, including editing, visual effects (VFX), color grading, composing, and sound design.
