New Mexico Film Office Celebrates Two Location Managers Guild International Award Nominations
Santa Fe, NM— New Mexico Film Office Director Amber Dodson proudly announces today that the esteemed Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) has nominated the state film office and local location managers for their outstanding work on the film “Oppenheimer.”
“Oppenheimer” is in the running for “Outstanding Locations in a Period Feature.” Christopher Nolan's highly acclaimed film showcases the stunning landscapes of New Mexico, which is a credit to the extraordinary location team who worked on it. Other nominees in this category include “Dune: Part Two” from Warner Bros., “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” from Warner Bros., “Killers of the Flower Moon” from Apple, “Napoleon” from Apple Studios/Columbia Pictures, and “Zone of Interest” from A24.
“Being nominated for an LMGI Award in the 'Outstanding Locations in a Period Feature' category for 'Oppenheimer' is incredibly humbling," Dennis Muscari, location manager for the film, said. "New Mexico's diverse landscapes and historical buildings all played a vital role in bringing Oppenheimer's story to life, and this nomination is a true recognition of the incredible locations we have here. It's a collaborative effort, and I'm so grateful to the entire location team, the New Mexico Film Office, and everyone who helped us find the perfect spots to capture this historic era."
"Los Alamos is thrilled to learn that 'Oppenheimer' has been nominated for Location Managers Guild International Awards,” said Liz Martineau, J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee member . "Los Alamos played a pivotal role in the Manhattan Project and American history, and seeing these locations and events recreated in the film is truly special. This nomination is a well-deserved recognition of the film's dedication to historical accuracy and our community's unique character.”
The New Mexico Film Office has been nominated for the Outstanding Film Commission award for its work on “Oppenheimer.” This international recognition highlights the dedication, support, and expertise the New Mexico Film Office brings to filmmakers and productions throughout the filmmaking process. The New Mexico Film Office is one of six film offices recognized globally, with other nominees from areas such as Sydney, Iceland, Glasgow, and Jordan.
“We are incredibly honored that the LMGI has recognized New Mexico in not one, but two categories this year,” Dodson stated. “These nominations are a testament to New Mexico’s incredible locations, outstanding location experts, and our film office’s dedication to ensuring collaboration among government, communities, and the filmmakers that choose to bring their vision to life in our beautiful state.”
