National New Mexico Day offers New Mexicans the opportunity to celebrate the Land of Enchantment
Residents to receive free day access to New Mexico State Parks on June 14
SANTA FE — In recognition of
National New Mexico Day on June 14, New Mexico residents will receive free day access to all 35 New Mexico State Parks as a way to get outdoors and experience one of the many resources that makes the Land of Enchantment #NewMexicoTrue.
“New Mexico’s State Parks are cherished by generations of residents across our great state,” said Toby Velasquez, State Parks Director. “ We are honored to take this opportunity to support New Mexico’s love for these special places by offering free day-use to New Mexicans on National New Mexico Day. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get outside to explore, experience, and enjoy the diverse outdoor recreation opportunities that your state parks offer.”
“We are truly blessed as New Mexicans to have such plentiful access to nature and the outdoors through our State Parks system,” said Lancing Adams, Acting Tourism Secretary. “We hope that New Mexicans take advantage of this chance for free access to any of our State Parks and find the time to share in their own way what makes the Land of Enchantment #NewMexicoTrue.”
New Mexico residents who show a valid New Mexico ID at one of the 35 on Friday, June 14, will be granted free day-use access. In addition to supporting our State Parks, New Mexicans are also encouraged to support New Mexico small businesses, artists and merchants on #NationalNewMexicoDay by shopping local. The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) supports over 450 made in New Mexico products through the New Mexico True Certified program, many of which can be found in shops, grocery stores and retail locations throughout the state.
NMTD recently published its annual
Summer Gift Guide which includes a catalog of gifts, snacks, trinkets and more that will make summer days even better. Over 100 New Mexico True Certified products are featured in the Summer Gift Guide. New Mexicans looking to spend the day trying something new are encouraged to check out one of the many
New Mexico True Certified Visitor Experiences also supported by the program.
The State Parks entrance fee waiver for National New Mexico Day does not include camping or rental fees. Please recreate responsibly and help conserve these special places by creating long lasting memories and leaving no trace .
