New Mexico Taxation & Revenue hosts regional tax conference
SANTA FE – Tax and revenue professionals from western states are gathering in New Mexico this month for the annual Western States Association of Tax Administrators (WSATA) Tax Conference.
New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke is joining the Federal Tax Administration and WSATA to host this year’s annual conference, taking place Oct. 26-29 in Albuquerque.
“New Mexico is happy to host this group of knowledgeable individuals at the WSATA conference. This is a great opportunity to foster cross-state collaborations and share valuable information we can all use,” said Taxation and Revenue Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke.
Schardin Clarke is the outgoing president of WSATA and the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) Board of Trustees secretary.
“Many thanks to Cabinet Secretary Schardin Clarke and her team at New Mexico Taxation and Revenue for hosting this year's meeting and providing this opportunity to share best practices, provide professional development, and improve member experience for our nation's taxpayers. This meeting provides a unique experience for attendees to discuss the many diverse topics impacting state tax administration at the regional and national levels,” said FTA Executive Director Sharonne Bonardi .
In addition to welcoming attendees to Albuquerque, Schardin Clarke will participate in a commissioners panel with other state revenue leaders on Oct. 27 as well as an industry panel with other subject matter experts on Oct. 28.
Taxation and Revenue will also be represented on an internal communications panel on Oct. 28 by Bobbie Marquez, former interim public information officer who now manages the department’s Tax Information and Policy Office.
