Santa Fe, NM - This summer, the Office of Archaeological Studies is participating in the New Mexico State Library’s summer reading program, “Unearth a Story." This summer’s focus is on paleontology and archaeology. The OAS will be traveling throughout the state to deliver programming for children and adults on Ice Age America. An archaeologist will be visiting libraries to discuss the people who were living in New Mexico long ago, what their environment was like, the technologies they used, and the animals they interacted with. Join us for a hands-on exploration of exciting items in our touch-and-feel tabletop museum like spears, atlatls, sabretooth skulls, and mammoth teeth. We’ll be talking, answering questions, and leading a fun activity, experimenting with making tiny tracks in clay, like the ones archaeologists use to learn about the past! Please check your local library’s event calendar to confirm times and dates, changes do occur. Programs are one hour long, and it’s best to arrive a few minutes before the start time, as they are not designed for drop-in attendance.
