Hello everyone,
New Mexico has a rich and varied Navajo-Churro sheep and wool-related history, which is tied directly to Bosque Redondo Memorial’s history. The historic site is hosting its second annual Fiber Fair on Saturday, May 3rd to celebrate the cultural importance of this heritage breed to the Diné (Navajo). Activities throughout the day include sheep shearing at the corrals, wool skirting and washing by Las Arañas Spinners and Weavers Guild, a ranger talk about the history of Navajo-Churro sheep, and guided wool carding, spinning, and weaving classes in the community room.
