Corrections adds electronic option for inmate deposits

Creates simple, efficient, and accessible option for families

SANTA FE , N.M. — The New Mexico Corrections Department is now offering Correct Pay as an additional option for sending funds to incarcerated individuals, giving families a faster and more convenient way to send money.

“This new electronic payment option is especially beneficial for families of incarcerated individuals in rural communities, where access to money orders may be limited,” said Corrections Cabinet Secretary Alisha Tafoya Lucero. “It also reflects the department’s continued commitment to modernizing services and leveraging technology to create more efficient, accessible, and convenient processes for community members and individuals in our care.”

Money orders will continue to be accepted as part of the department’s existing deposit process.

Through Correct Pay, approved visitors can send funds online or through the Correct Pay mobile app using a credit or debit card. Deposits typically post to inmate accounts within 48 hours.

To ensure funds are processed correctly, deposits must include the inmate’s full commitment name and inmate number. Funds sent by individuals who are not on the inmate’s approved visitation list will not be accepted.

More information is available on the New Mexico Corrections Department website and the Correct Pay website.
