Robert Nott, longtime Santa Fe New Mexican reporter, named Communications Director for NMHealth

SANTA FE—Patrick Allen, Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) announced today that Robert Nott has been named Communications Director for the department. For the past 25 years, Robert has been a reporter for the Santa Fe New Mexican .

“We are very excited to have Robert joining the NMHealth team,” said Patrick Allen, NMHealth Secretary . “Robert’s deep knowledge of the communities of New Mexico and the challenges they face will be instrumental in crafting messages that resonate with New Mexicans and help us achieve our goal of making New Mexico the healthiest state by 2040.”

As a reporter, Robert covered the arts, public education, historical pieces, veterans’ affairs and state government – including NMHealth during the COVID pandemic.

His varied background includes a stint in military intelligence with the U.S. Air Force and working in theater as a director, actor and playwright both in New York City and Santa Fe. He is also the author of five non-fiction books about Western films. His most recent book, about the 1962 film classic Ride the High Country , was published by UNM Press this spring.

“I knew during the interview process with NMHealth employees that this is an agency full of people who want to do their best to improve the health and welfare of New Mexicans and save lives,” Robert said . “I’m happy to be part of the team.”
