Alamogordo, NM — The New Horizons Dome Theater is open again at NM Museum of Space History, boosting our Launchpad Lecture Series. Ranger Sarah Sherwood from White Sands National Park will present "National Parks and Night Skies," exploring the crucial role of public lands in preserving dark skies on Friday, May 2, 2025. Ranger Sherwood, an interpretive Park Guide at White Sands, brings a unique perspective to the topic with her diverse educational background in math and psychology. Her passion for night sky interpretation has led her to attend the National Park Service's Night Sky Academy, enhancing her astronomy education skills. The lecture highlights the importance of recognizing dark skies as a natural resource and how the National Park Service works to protect these invaluable assets. Learn about efforts to minimize light pollution and preserve natural nightscapes in national parks across the country. This free event is open to the public, with coffee and donuts provided courtesy of the International Space Hall of Fame Foundation.
