“iNgqikithi yokuPhica Weaving Meanings: Telephone Wire Art from South Africa" marks the first major showcase of telephone-wire weaving art in any North American museum. This groundbreaking exhibition delves into the rich history of wire as an artistic medium in South Africa, tracing its evolution from a symbol of social status in the 16th century to the vibrant and innovative art form it is today. Opening at Museum of International Folk Art November 17, 2024.
