Seven NM districts win grants for economic development
Resilient Communities Fund targets rural and underserved communities
SANTA FE — NM MainStreet and the NM Resiliency Alliance awarded Resilient Communities Fund seed grants to economic development projects in seven MainStreet districts.
Created in 2014 in partnership with the McCune Charitable Foundation, the Resilient Communities Fund provides seed grants that can be leveraged to attain additional matching resources. Awarded projects are designed to engage local volunteers for meaningful community projects and boost local economic vitality.
“These projects make a positive impact on our state’s economic landscape,” said EDD Secretary Rob Black . “They are essential in providing support on a hyper-local level and driving economic growth in communities that need it most.”
For every dollar in grant funding awarded from 2014 to 2023, $3.72 in cash and in-kind contributions is leveraged by its grant recipients. Since 2020, a total of 640 businesses across New Mexico have benefited from NMRA grants.
“These community projects strengthen local partnerships and support small businesses,” said NM MainStreet Director Daniel J. Gutierrez . “The funds will go a long way in making a positive impact on the economic health of New Mexico.”
“I’m thrilled to see local districts put these projects into action,” said New Mexico Resiliency Alliance Board President Lucas Pedraza. “These innovative ideas will make positive contributions to the local economy and small businesses.”
