Letter from the Marketing Coordinator

Hello readers! The past two weeks have been a whirlwind for our small team of four with a number of speaking engagements, site visits, and conferences across the state. We were grateful to convene in person at the annual Outdoor Economics Conference in Las Cruces and connect with outdoor recreation champions from all corners of the state.

Our third annual Adventure Pitch competition, in collaboration with CNM Ingenuity's ActivateNM , was an exciting way to end the first full day of the conference! Four finalists took center stage and delivered 5-minute pitches to our esteemed panel of judges, Whitney Potter Schwartz, Karina Armijo, Carrie Hamblen, and Brooke Montgomery. Congratulations to this year's winners!

First Place - Bee Clean Spot awarded $10,000

Second Place - OrcTech awarded $3,000

Third Place - ApiVera awarded $2,000

We closed out the conference with our sponsored Next Gen Youth panel, hosted by the incredible Sarah Candelaria, Executive Director of Nature Niños . Hayley Brown, Sofia Amato, Diana Salido, Brittany Gonzalez, and Lou Ervin shared personal stories about their experience in Outdoor Equity Fund programs and emphasized the need for more youth mentorship, career pathways in schools, gear libraries, and funding for programming to get youth excited and engaged in outdoor recreation and land stewardship. It was an honor to hear from these young voices.

Stay wild!

Michelle Simon
